Yoga & Sound Therapy
Yoga
I have been teaching yoga since 2004, and have specialised in teaching yoga for cancer since 2009. I am also a qualified advanced massage therapist, and have undertaken training in advanced anatomy and structual and ayurvedic yoga therapy. I have trained many teachers to do this work on my own course Healing Space, for many years. I still consult on yoga therapy and teacher training programmes.
Due to my PhD commitments, I am not currently teaching a regular weekly yoga class, but I occasionally cover classes at the wonderful Root & Rise studio in Castle Douglas, where I also offer Sound Baths.
I am still offering teaching and consultation on yoga therapy trainings. I am also available for one-to-one consultation and coaching. I also provide mentoring or coaching for yoga teachers and therapists who are working with people living with cancer or other life-limiting illness or in palliative care
I am a senior yoga teacher registered with Yoga Pros (Formerly Yoga Alliance Professionals)
Between 2011 and 2021 I trained dozens of yoga teachers to work with people living with cancer. Click below for a list of their contact details and locations.
Book
Adapting Yoga for People Living with Cancer Published in 2020, is aimed at yoga teachers and therapists and is available from the publisher Singing Dragon, and all the other usual book selling places.
Sound Therapy & Sound Baths
I have been playing music and singing in some form or another since I was a child. In fact, I studied music at University (The first time around). I am a classically trained flautist and singer.
I have always integrated music and sound into my yoga practice and teaching but recently I indulged a long-held desire to qualify as a sound therapist. This means I can hold stand-alone sound baths and sound therapy sessions.
I work with a range of instruments, including crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, flute, shruti box/harmonium, voice, percussion and chimes.
I am currently offering sound baths at Root & Rise studio in Castle Douglas
